Adam Hall & The Velvet Playboys are a 6-piece swing band based in Perth, Western Australia. They specialise in playing music from the 40s – 60s and in particular the music of Las Vegas. For the last few years I have designed materials that communicated what they were all about. This has included a website, logo, posters, flyers and the artwork for their debut album.
I looked at a lot of design for entertainers of the 50s as inspiration. Having a strong retro vibe was an imprtant part of communicating what the band are about. You want people to look at these materials and be able to tell what kind of band this is. The colors have been kept relatively consist throughout to strengthen their brand.
